Arlo Vintners was born an early morning in February 2016 with a half tonne of hand-picked Grenache, but the idea behind it had been in gestation for almost twenty years prior. I was quite happy studying health science at university, when in 1998 I took a casual job at a Cellar Door to help make ends meet. It's fair to say the wine bug bit hard, and within weeks physiotherapy's loss was the wine world's dubious gain. Tertiary studies in wine marketing followed, as did a number of sales and marketing roles with wineries large and small, and of course numerous vintages to build practical knowledge. Finally in 2016 there came a universal alignment between knowledge, daring and funds, and Arlo Vintners came to be.

And hey, it's not a bad thing that its taken twenty years. With time comes knowledge, and I've created a pretty impressive mental scrapbook of the very best sites across North East Victoria from which source fruit. My philosophy is simple; to seek out interesting parcels of fruit from great vineyards, and craft small batch wines that are true to site and season.
